Straw weaving is one of the oldest traditions in Ukraine and Europe. Usually, wheat straw is used for it. Wheat straw has good properties and is shrouded in the magical meanings of our ancestors.
Handmade goods were widespread; almost every house had them. It was straw dolls for kids, straw hat (bryl’) and Christmas ornaments. People made many straw elements, especially during the Christmas holidays to decorate the house. There was “Diduh”, “Pavuk”, wreath and decorated windows with straw ornaments.

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn and create your very own straw Angel, which has been seen as the symbol of the guardian for many centuries.
