\u201c20 Days in Mariupol\u201d: Marks Starting August 25th in Seattle, Documentary Screening on Russian Crimes Against Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ukrainian Association of Washington State is thrilled to be a presenting partner with the Meaningful Movies Project<\/a> for the in person screening of the award-winning Ukrainian documentary \u201c20 Days In Mariupol,\u201d directed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and filmmaker, Mstyslav Chernov. Earlier this year, the film won the audience award at the Sundance Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c20 Days in Mariupol\u201d depicts the documented war crimes committed by Russia at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, as reported by Associated Press journalists. The documentary \u201c20 Days in Mariupol\u201d will be shown for the first time on the screens of <\/span>SIFF Uptown Cinema in Seattle<\/span><\/a>. Anyone interested can join the official opening of the film screening on August 25th. The screening of the film will run until August 31st.<\/span><\/p>\n

The documentary film \u201c20 Days in Mariupol\u201d tells the story of the Ukrainian Associated Press team, consisting of video journalist Mstyslav Chernov, photographer Evgeniy Malolteka, and field producer Vasilisa Stepanenko, who found themselves trapped in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol during the first weeks of Russia’s full-scale invasion. After the start of intense shelling, the journalists become cut off from the rest of the world, yet they continue documenting Russian war crimes. They managed to escape alive after 20 days in the trap of Mariupol. As the only international correspondents remaining in the city, they captured what later became iconic images of the war: dying children, mass graves, shelling of a maternity hospital, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the movie screening, a panel discussion will take place featuring the following speakers:<\/b><\/p>\n
